CNIL, France's privacy watchdog, built a kind of family tree for AI robots, so everyone can see which model is the parent of which.

France's data protection authority CNIL updated its Genmod demonstrator on August 26, which maps the links between an open source AI model and all its derivatives among the two million models published on Hugging Face. The tool now refreshes weekly and completes a full search in about twenty seconds.

Genmod mainly helps study training data memorization by spotting, across a model's whole lineage, versions likely to still hold personal information, a direct concern for exercising GDPR rights. The update adds a bilingual interface and a download-popularity ranking, useful for prioritizing which models to watch.
