How we work
How Explic-IA is made
Who writes, where the news comes from, where AI is involved, how the site is funded — and what to do if you spot a mistake.
What Explic-IA is
An independent newsstand that tells the news of artificial intelligence at three reading levels — Discovery, Essential, Expert — and in three languages. The same information, in different words depending on who is reading. No account to create, no paywall, no advertising.
Three levels, for real
Each level is a text in its own right, written for that level — not a shortened version of the one above. Discovery gives a picture an eight-year-old can follow; Essential says what the news concretely changes; Expert adds the precision or context that was missing. An automatic check refuses to publish a news item or glossary term whose levels copy each other.
Where the news comes from
Every week, an automatic routine searches the AI players' announcements and the coverage of established outlets over the past seven days, then keeps eight to twelve stories that matter. Only two kinds of sources are accepted: the player itself (official blog, release, repository) or an outlet with editorial control; newsletters, roundup blogs and social networks are excluded, and the list of accepted domains is public (sources.json). Every item keeps the link to its original article and shows the nature of its source: nothing is published without a source, and the source is always one click away.
Where AI is involved — and where it is not
The news items in the feed are selected and written with the help of an artificial intelligence (Claude, by Anthropic) from the source articles, then run through automatic checks: all three languages present, distinct levels, accepted source, correct date. The tool guides, the glossary, the Footprint page and the dossiers are written by hand or drafted with the same AI from official sites and dated sources, then proofread before publication. We say so because a site that explains AI should say where it uses it.
Mistakes and corrections
AI makes mistakes; so do we. If a news item is inaccurate, wrongly attributed or out of date, write to contact@explic-ia.com with the link: we correct or remove it, and we say so. The figures on the Footprint page are dated and sourced; they are updated along with the weekly watch.
How the site is funded
Explic-IA is free and carries no advertising. Some links to tools are affiliate links, disclosed in the footer: if you subscribe through them, a commission funds the news watch at no extra cost to you. This influences neither which tools we present nor what we say about them — the most-read guides are, as it happens, the ones that earn nothing.
Your data
No account, no advertising tracker. Your preferences — language and reading level — stay in your browser. Audience measurement uses Matomo, installed on our own server, without cookies and with the IP address truncated: we know which pages and reading levels are used, not who you are — and nothing is passed to a third party. The newsletter uses double opt-in: nothing is stored before you click the link in the email, and every issue contains an unsubscribe link. Sending is handled by Brevo, a French provider.
